Girasol Tagaytay Bed & Breakfast Staycation Review
Girasol Tagaytay hotel room and food review and recommendations
Tagaytay has always been our go-to place whenever we want to take a break from Manila’s humid and hot weather. There are lots of things to enjoy there like horseback riding for the active people who aren’t afraid of falling off from the horses (I’ll pass please!) or go plant shopping for the Titas of Manila like me. There are also a lot of tourist spots to visit including the beautiful view of Taal volcano and a long list of good food and dishes that you could only find in the city. One of the newly opened spots we love going to there is Girasol Bed and Breakfast.
Girasol, much like it’s name which means sunflower, is a welcoming and warm place you could escape to in Tagayaty. I went there last December stressed from the holiday rush and the never-ending-Christmas-traffic and came back to Manila feeling refreshed and recharged. It almost felt like a retreat for me.
Located in the cool air of Tagaytay, Girasol is a Continental Filipino Restaurant, Events place, Bed & Breakfast and Wine Cellar. It is a place of celebration and making fond memories, perfect for weddings, birthdays, meetings and mini-conventions – Girasol
LUXURY SUITE
The spacious Lavender room at Girasol Tagaytay.
Deluxe king suite price rate: P6900 on normal weekdays
We had a staycation at Girasol’s Lavender Suite, which is one of the most spacious hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed at in Tagaytay in it’s price range. I love its modern luxurious interiors and how airy and big it feels inside cos of it’s high ceiling, two giant windows that are nicely shaded by beautiful trees, and its huge firm but comfortable bed. There’s also a little water fountain right outside that’s relaxing to listen to when you open the window. I got the chance to check out all their rooms, they hava a penthouse (rooftop with a nice view), loft (two-floor), and a standard sized room.
This cozy deluxe king suite is my favorite ‘cos of it’s size. A lot of people can fit inside, which makes it perfect for families and group of friends to stay in. You can even ask for extra beds in case you need them. Girasol staff are accommodating with their guests. I went out in the middle of the night to look for water and one of their staff happily said “good morning”, then gladly got water bottles for me. My half-asleep self was amazed at how cheerful he was to help at 2AM! Really good service.
SPACIOUS VENUE
A hotel, restaurant, and events place for parties, birthday celebrations, and wedding reception.
Their restaurant at the main hall is very homey and has a really high ceiling with the most beautiful chandelier that reminded me of the Olympics lol! Both the main hall and the second floor function room are also available for events if you’re ever looking for a venue to celebrate your debut / birthday, company outings, parties, and wedding receptions.
My favorite spot at Girasol would have to be their Instagrammable balcony. It’s just an eye-catching, relaxing, and breezy spot to have breakfast and take pictures at in Tagaytay. We always request to be seated there when we dine in the restaurant.
GOOD FOOD & WINE
Gourmet food at a reasonable price and good for pairing with wine.
You’ll find a cozy wine cellar at their basement that is also another good spot for parties and meetings. The room is very private and has a good collection of wine that my dad and his friends enjoy. I’m not a huge wine drinker so instead I put all my energy on deciding what to order from the menu.
We’ve visited and dined at Girasol’s restaurant several times so I’ve already tried quite a lot of their dishes. My top five recommendations so far are; (1) Pinaso, a soft and crunchy pudding. I love it so much that I ordered an extra Pinaso to bring to my room after our dinner (what is diet?) (2) Girasol’s longanisa and fried rice is such a good combo, their flavors complimented each other well. If you love salty foods you’ll enjoy this (3) the Chicken blue cheese risotto, is extraordinary and very tasty, it’s the type of risotto I’ve yet to try before. (4) Quattro Formaggi pizza is very cheesy and crispy thin, my favorite type of pizza crust. And lastly (5) Eggs Royale, they were very generous with the portions of all their food, even my salmon on my Eggs Royale was thick and big.
Girasol is one of my favorite places to eat and stay at in Tagaytay, especially since their restaurant is pet-friendly. I was able to bring my dog Luna during one of my visits there!
