I have a love hate relationship with summer here in the Philippines. The temperature can get hot enough to kill all the summer vibes and energy I have to play at the pool or beach. It is melting the life out of my skin guys, ang init! (it’s so hot!). Literally, increased sun exposure can darken, damage, and age the skin faster. 

But then summer is also the time when we get the luxury of spending a long hard-earned break with friends and family. Plus, I do get the fun of dressing up in summer-themed outfits and hanging out at the beach, which makes soldiering through the heat worth it. Before we all do that though, heres a quick set of summer makeup tips from your friendly neighborhood blogger featuring some summer Avon products.

Prevention is always the best line of defense for our skin, so always use makeup with high SPF (sun protection factor — didn’t know what SPF meant until today guys! Shame on you, Shayne lol!). Dermatologists recommend products with SPF15 to SPF30 and Avon Dual Powder Foundation has a good amount of SPF24 plus glutathione. Glutathione is the mothership-of-all-antioxidants that boosts the skin’s anti-aging shields and also helps lighten your skintone. This foundation has a nice medium to heavy coverage that applies evenly on the skin and lasts all day. 

The sun dries out my already-dry lips even more during the summer so I like to wear a good combo of super moisturizing lip balms and lipsticks. One of the creamiest and most hydrating lipstick I’ve come across is the Avon Beauty Lip Stylo Lipstick. It’s a satin lipstick with a light to medium coverage. It comes in the shades Firsky Red, Pink Peach, Sunset, and Totally Twig.

Have you ever impulsively jumped into the pool forgetting you wore a non-waterproof mascara earlier that morning to impress crushie? Happened to me twice guys… TWICE! I was a makeup newbie, didn’t know it wasn’t waterproof, and was just plain forgetful. I ended up looking like a panda lost at sea lol! So don’t be like me. Wear waterproof mascara like Avon’s Supershock Max Volume Waterproof Mascara. It’s light weight, adds a natural looking volume to the lashes, and is easy to remove. 

My skin gets oiler on the T-zone when its really humid and hot so it’s a must for me to keep an oil control matte powder in my bag (everywhere i go) in case of an oily-disco-ball-face emergency.  Avon True Color Oil Contril Plus Pressed Powder has SPF19 (another extra sun protection, which makes it a good setting powder). It’s shine free and as long lasting as their Perfect Eyebrow Kit Deep Brown, which I used to fill in my brows on the photo below. 

Summer is also the time makeup lovers get to sport fun and bright makeup looks. While I still always fall back to wearing neutral eyeshadows (with bright bold lipsticks), other people are more adventurous and go for bright eye makeup looks ala-Mariah-Carey-Butterfly-music-video (I feel so old mentioning this song!), just like Avon’s True Color Eyeshadow Quad Glow Teal which I reviewed here.
