THE SOFTEST DREAM VELVET FOUNDATION
I usually go for dewy ala Jlo-from-the-block liquid foundation finish so when I first tried the Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating foundation, to me it felt like it was makeup from space — “Ooooh what are these”. First thing that surprised me was its amazing light-as-a-feather, easy to blend, super velvety smooth texture. It’s like a cross breed of creamy butter and bouncy marshmallow, if that makes sense.
It’s easily the softest textured foundation I’ve ever tried so far. It has a beautiful fresh baby face soft matte finish with a healthy natural glow. I feel like Rory Gilmore (yas! who else watches Gilmore Girls?) when i use this… especially with the lightest shade on, which is not really my shade so the Rory feeling doesn’t last long.
FOR WHICH SKIN TYPE?
It comes in a squeeze type tube which I thought at first looked too small. But given that i only need a few drops of these to cover my entire face, i think it’ll last fairly long enough to justify its price of P499 (goes cheaper during sales!). Its medium coverage and it lasts for about eight hours before it starts to slightly fade on me.
Its only downside is that it turns shiny on my oily T-zone after five hours of wear on a humid weather (I have combination skin type). So I wouldn’t recommend this foundation to you if you have an oily skin type. However, I think this will work best on people with dry skin since Dream Velvet is also super hydrating when worn. I personally love the texture and the finish that I still like to wear it. I just have to make sure that the weather is compatible, I use a matte setting powder with it, and that I’m staying in a well ventilated area.
MY PERFECT SHADE
Natural Beige
It comes in five shades — Nude, Sandy beige, Pure beige, Natural beige, and Honey beige, as seen on the swatches above. I wanted to describe the shades to you in words but since some of them are pretty similar to each other (with different undertones), I’ll let the swatch photo do the explaining. I still strongly suggest you try these first at the counter before buying cos some shades like Nude and Sandy Beige have a tendency to oxidize and change color (just a bit) on my skin. My perfect Dream Velvet shade is Natural Beige. Have you guys tried these? Did it work for your skin type?

I’m really interested in trying this out! What is your shade in mac? I think we’re pretty similar in skintone so it’ll be easier for me to pick this up online, thanks!
