I was never really head over heels on board with the 90s brown lips trend ’til I got these new Maybelline creamy matte brown nudes collection. Other nudes lipsticks were too washed out, and most dark browns lipsticks were too matrona on me. But thankfully these Maybelline Brown Nudes are just right on my light morena skin.

PS. Congratulations to our new Maybelline girl Liza Soberano! Who else think she’s a perfect match for the brand? Met her for the first time during an event and guys she is a lot prettier and approachable in person, didn’t even think that was possible ‘cos she’s already super gorgeous on cam!

The general formula of these lipsticks are pretty consistent — it’s creamy, glides smoothly on the lips, and it smells like a cupcake (can’t really point out the flavor but it smells yummy). I honestly prefer unscented makeup but I didn’t mind this scent ‘cos it was pleasant and not overpowering. They last the whole day with slight fading that starts after 6 hours (darker shades lasts longer, fades less), which is pretty good especially since these are only P299. It’s demi matte — close to satin, but definitely not as matte and as drying as the Kylie Jenner lip kits. They’re fairly pigmented and buildable, but not opaque so it may look slightly different on each girl depending on how pigmented her lips are. My lips are pretty pigmented so i think these appear just a tad bit darker on my lips. 

Maybelline did a great job at selecting each shade in this collection ‘cos they all looked good and are super wearable. I believe it’ll look flattering on a lot of girls too! I already saw other bloggers swooning over Clay Crush and Nude Nuance on Instagram. 

My personal favorite would have to be Daringly Nude — a soft demure nude pink that reminds me of Kylie Jenner’s pink nude lipsticks. Clay Crush — a muted warm peachy brown is my second fave. I just finished watching The Vampire Diaries and saw Elena Gilbert rocking a lipstick that looks just like it. Nude Nuance — also a crowd fave, is a medium muted brick brown that is reminiscent of JLo’s 90s bronze makeup with brown lipstick look. Nude Embrace — is a light peachy nude that surprisingly doesn’t looked too washed out on me, this is going to look great with smokey eye makeup. And last but definitely not the least is Burgundy Blush — a sophisticated dark reddish burgundy brown. This is actually the first shade in this collection that got my attention. I saw Kat at the Maybelline event rocking this lipstick. It looked super beautiful on her so I had to ask what lipstick she was wearing, and she pointed me towards this collection :)

All these shades are absolutely lovable. They are wearable, inexpensive, and are good quality. Make sure to check them out in stores and try all the shades ladies! Yes even if the shade is out of your comfort zone. You never know when you’re going to want to sport dark burgundy lips for a date or special occasion so better have one that’s easily flattering and affordable in your arsenal of lipstick :)
