GET THAT KPOP GRADIENT LIPS WITH MAYBELLINE
I’m quite insecure of the pigmentation of my lips. Its why i always go for bold opaque lipsticks and skip anything that has the word sheer in it. Maybelline Lip gradation — isn’t that only for those blessed with Sandara Park lips? I didn’t think these would work so well on me. I even considered skipping the gradation part and just use it full instead. But i couldn’t ignore it, it is after all called Lip gradation for a reason. Plus i owe it to my blogger self to at least try!
I have the shades; Fuchsia 1, Pink 1, and Mauve 1 — also known as the new members of the Bioman team LOL (we’re BFFs if you know who they are!). Mauve 1 is a muted brown lipstick that has a striking resemblance to the Kylie Jenner brown shades. Pink 1 isn’t really my kind of shade but its a beautiful bright coral pink nonetheless (it goes well with Fuchsia 1 if you gradiate them together). Fuchsia 1, my favorite, has got to be the best color for that pouty KPOP i-just-sucked-on-a-lollipop look.
LIP GRADATION
I love how they feel extremely buttery on my lips. They glide in creamy and almost felt like they were a little wet and they stay like that for awhile giving you enough time to smoothly blend them out with the “cushion smudger”. And can I just say that I LOVE this sponge, it’s super helpful to blur the lipstick everywhere, including the outer line of your lips. It also makes a huge difference in creating a smoother gradation.
TIP: Moisturize and exfoliate the lips first. Then use a concealer or a very neutral light lipstick (i used Wet n Wild’s Bare It All) as a base — don’t panic if you look undead — it’ll change after you add the Maybelline’s Lip Gradation. I applied Fuchsia 1 (worn on the photos above) along the inner ring of my lips and gently patted the cushion smudger out to create the gradient. I repeated this process thrice to build up the color slowly.

FULL COLOR
After that they set in matte on the lips which earn these lippies bonus points if you’d rather skip the gradation effect and want to go full with the color. Remember Mauve 1? I didn’t find it too exciting to “gradient” but its a beautiful full on shade for a Kylie Jenner look.
They’re all opaque and well pigmented, and lasts around 5 hours on me before it starts fading. Although if your going for a gradient look you will need to retouch the color every after meal. Ombre lips could be high maintenance that way but trust me guys, the my-lips-are-naturally-pouty effect is very much worth it.
These are only PHP399 (USD8.5). I highly recommend Fuchsia 1 if you want the kpop ombre lips look, while Kylie fans will love Mauve 1. I gotta say these lipsticks awaken the sleeping lipstick junkie in me. I even went to the MAC counter yesterday (after a long long time) to try on different lipstick shades. I’m also eying some more Maybelline and Happy Skin (recommendations needed ladies!) lippies online— Zalora has tons of lippie products plus a wide range of lipstick shades available. I guess my beauty spending ban is going to be a challenge this month!

I have one of this and while I love the texture and formula, I don’t think the smudger was necessary and a little gimmicky. You look great with gradient lips!

I tend to prefer this type of look for when it’s super sunny outside. I don’t know but I find lip gradient looks to fit more the Spring and Summer weather. I got myself a tint from Etude House last year and it has been fantastic.
For those who don’t like the idea of wearing face concealer on your lips, Koreans actually have proper lip concealers. I own one from TheSaem and I’ve been thinking about getting another one from Innisfree. MAC also has it’s version called Lip Erase ( but it’s far more expensive than TheSaem’s of Innisfree’s )

These look different compare to the ones we have in the US. I love the formula of them…I just don’t use the smudger. LOL!

I’m not so into light colored lippies din sis but I’m eventually trying some in light pink colors.
