Working Out
Some of you may know this already, recently I have been going back and forth to the hospital for a month now. I have severe muscle spasms on my lower back and my spine is apparently straighter when it should be more curved. This is very alarming to me, not to mention painfully expensive as well.
Like a lot of women I am always conscious about my body, but for the wrong reasons. I based everything on my appearance. I’m not overweight nor underweight, I am mostly in between. I don’t exercise regularly but whenever I feel like I am gaining weight I cut down on my food intake or exercise a little. My point is, exercising was never really a part of my lifestyle. I just pull it out of my sleeves whenever I feel like it.
I’ve been contented with that, until now. My body has come to a point where I need to regularly exercise to keep it at a normal state. At the moment, my muscles are stiff and in pain. My movement is limited and even walking can be a little bit painful already.
It is time for me to change my mindset and my lifestyle. And I wanted to share with you what I learned from this experience. If before I only exercised when I felt like improving my looks, now I want to exercise regularly because I want to take care of my body. I want to be responsible and live a healthier lifestyle. After all, what I sow now I will reap later. I really want to avoid going back to the hospital and end up spending lots of money for something that I could avoid by taking care of my body.
I know that this is not going to be easy. I am going to have to unlearn my old habits and learn new ones, but it is something I intend to do. Having said that, I already bought a couple of things for my quest to be more active. They are pink and very girly haha, and I am very fond of them. I got a pink yoga mat from Toby’s, they also have it in different colors in case you are interested. I also got new running shoes from Nike at The Athelete’s Foot store, really not a fan of that store’s name. They are on sale at the moment and they have quite the nice selection of sports shoes. Sorry about your health issues… I am sure it is very painful… I am trying to maje excersise a part if my daily routine too.. Its so tough in beggning… Hope you get rid if your back pain..

I hope you get better soon! I have fibromyalgia, so I know what you mean :P I've found that if I do extra cardio, it's a little easier to move around without as much pain.

Hope you are feel much better. When it comes to back pain, gotta be very careful. Just devote some time everyday and i can guarantee, you will be loving it. It will be a bit tiring to start off with but its definitely worth it.

“unlearn old habits and learn new ones” veeery wise. I'm starting to feel the need to exercise for health rather than vanity, too. But I guess I'm just waiting for something critical before I get up and move. Bad, I know :(

wahhh i love this post!! i'm so sorry to hear about you being in and out of the hospital but i feel like i can relate in the sense about the reasons why we as woman work out!!
i'm definitely guilty of only working out when i feel severly out of shape! i need to make it a more regular thing.. especially since i've hit 30 i definitely feel in the last year or so my body is A LOT more angry with me if i don't get enough sleep or i overindulge i feel it a lot more now then i ever felt like i did in my early 20's!!

Healthy lifestyle is the way to go. I need to get off my butt, too. And I looove the shoes!

I just started to follow a workout video recently and it's working wonder for me. I base on appearance too… even if I am tiny and that makes most peoples think I am skinny… I actually have a lot of hidden fat XD

Oh no are you sick? You were very cheerful when I read your posts and I was sadden by this one. I am also not into exercise thing (lazy patootie here!) and I don't have a weak immune system but physically I am underweight, really payat that my friends are always complimenting that I should be concern with my weight. But I can't help it, even if I tried a lot of vitamins and eat a lot (actually I EAT A LOT) still I remain payat! But I notice that I've become so slouchy.

You should watch Blogilates on Youtube (she also has a website with a workout calendar every month). I do it every day. It's hard but funny, and you feel so happy after doing it. So try it !

I'm sorry to hear that you are having back problem and visiting the hospital regularly. I hope they find out what happened to your spine to make it straighter than it should be. I recently had a sacro something (lower back) inflammation and it really is no fun when it affects all movement.
And yes, we should exercise more regularly. The only exercise I do are walking daily. I need to step up on it.
With such cute pink yoga mat and colourful shoes, you would definitely find motivation in exercising!

I'm afraid too when time comes when I need to exercise regularly. It's not part of my everyday routine but maybe for the better noh? we should do everything just to have a healthy lifestyle. Actually and unfortunatly, I'm not a ballerina. I've just started some very basic ballerina workout at home because I was also having problems with my back and health and my doctor advised me eiher Pilates or ballerina training.
I understand what you mean in this post. We really must look out for our health and not only our physical appearence. And yes, It also means that we have to change our habits a bit. Hope your back gets better, but exercising does help a lot! Good Luck! And sorry for the long comment.

Oh goodness, I hope you feel better once you start exercising. I know that when I exercise daily I feel SOOO much better. Pilates is the one that always chills me out the most.

I totally agree with you, Shayne! Like you, I wasn't really into exercising until I looked in the mirror and saw my baby fats. Yeah, I'm not ashamed of it. Hehe! Anyways, I started researching on workouts that'll suit my schedule and voila! I do 25-30 crunches + 15 The Hundreds a night and I dance to my favorite KPOP songs during weekends for an hour or so.

Since I started working out, I already lost about 25lbs and I must say. I felt healthier. But I make sure that my motivation is because I want to be healthier. I love my body so I'm taking care of it. I don't want to do crash diets and such and I'm taking things slow because lang because my aim is not to be thin but to be ultimately healthy. :)
